Purpose of the catalogue
The AGEWU Public Domain Literature Library aims to provide readers with access to public-domain works accompanied by editorial commentary that supports informed reading. Scope and selection
The collection comprises 91 works drawn from Project Gutenberg, selected for their relevance to folklore, fairy tales, and related narrative traditions. Works were chosen based on their representation of diverse cultures, historical periods, and narrative forms. The catalogue does not aim for comprehensive coverage but rather for a curated selection that illustrates key genres and themes.
Source attribution
Every book record identifies its source as Project Gutenberg, with translator, editor, illustrator, and publisher noted where available. The catalogue does not assert copyright status beyond the public-domain designation provided by the source. Users are encouraged to verify rights for their own use.
Bibliographic records
Each record includes title, author(s), keywords, target reader, and a catalogue note. Keywords are drawn from the source metadata. The target reader field is standardised to "Readers of public-domain and historical texts" for consistency. Category assignment
Works are placed into four categories based on affinity of theme and form: Fantasy Classics; Folklore; Myths Legends; and Fairy Tales. These categories are flexible and intended as navigation aids; they do not imply strict literary classification.
